Cornerstone of Recovery, located in Eastern Tennessee, offers a remarkable recovery experience for those suffering from chemical dependency and addiction. Cornerstone of Recovery is a place where substance abuse and mental health issues can be brought out into the open and worked through so that healing may take place.
Alcoholism:The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.Dual Diagnosis:Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person\'s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.Opioid Addiction:Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.Substance Abuse:Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Medically Assisted Detox:Before the recovery process can begin, the hazy fog of drugs and alcohol must be lifted. To do that, patients often need to go through a detoxification process to cleanse their systems of alcohol and/or drugs. The idea of detox can be terrifying to the addict or alcoholic who may have attempted to do so in the past, more often than not on their own.At Cornerstone of Recovery, the reality is this: Medical detox is a safe process monitored by health professionals designed to make patients as comfortable as possible before they move on to the next phase of treatment.Patients in the detox program at Cornerstone are monitored 24 hours a day by registered, licensed nurses and clinical staff with oversight from our physician, a specialist in addiction medicine, along with our in-house psychologist.Inpatient:Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient\'s individual requirements.Sober Living Homes:Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who\'ve just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.24-Hour Clinical Care:At certain points in the recovery process, it\'s important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.Intensive Outpatient:Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). The Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program typically lasts 8 to 10 weeks. For the convenience of those who work, different times are offered for this program. This program allows patients to continue living at home and maintain their employment; its also an integral part of the program of their Support Living clients as well.Aftercare Support:At Cornerstone of Recovery, they strongly believe that the treatment process is the beginning of a new life centered in recovery. It is not a cure, because the disease concept of addiction teaches them that it is a chronic and progressive illness that, left untreated, can be fatal. Thats why the recovery process that begins with one of their various programs doesnt end after treatment. In fact, medical and addiction studies show that the first 18 months of recovery is an extremely critical time for those battling addiction.Cornerstones professional staff members develop a detailed aftercare plan for each patient while the patient is enrolled in one of the core treatment programs, so that once the discovery phase of the treatment process ends, the recovery process can continue uninterrupted.Intervention Services:When needed, Cornerstone of Recovery provides Intervention Services to help a person make the sometimes difficult decision to choose treatment. And once in treatment, we provide compassionate encouragement when a patient, in the very difficult early stages of recovery, struggles.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one\'s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient\'s own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing:EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist\'s finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.Family Therapy:Many of their staff know firsthand how painful and challenging it can be for families to face addiction. It\'s a disease that can affect an entire family. One of the most important aspects of recovery is rebuilding those bonds and relationships.Cornerstone of Recovery will provide the patient with educational and support programs that will improve those relationships and help them and their family better understand the disease.Group Therapy:Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.Individual Therapy:In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.Life Skills:Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.Nutrition Therapy:Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.Trauma Therapy:Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client\'s past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
