Overview

Alcoholism:The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.Dual Diagnosis:Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person\'s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.Mental Health and Substance Abuse:A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.Opioid Addiction:Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Levels Of Care

24-Hour Clinical Care:At certain points in the recovery process, it\'s important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.Intensive Outpatient:Intensive outpatient programs, like their Utah Outpatient Rehab, are programs that are designed for individuals who need help with drug or alcohol but are either so situated in their lives that they cannot uproot themselves and go away for 30 days, or have not advanced far enough into their addiction where inpatient treatment is warranted. Many addictions, depending on severity, need medical attention that can only effectively be given in an inpatient setting. But less severe addictions need treatment too, and this is where a program like our Utah Outpatient Rehab comes in.Outpatient:Pinnacle Recovery’s Utah Outpatient Rehab programs are here to help those who need addiction treatment, but either cannot attend an inpatient program, or may not need the intensive therapy that inpatient offers. While they strongly recommend inpatient treatment for most patients, there are many situations in which outpatient treatment is the best option.Inpatient:Inpatient Drug or Alcohol Treatment, like the one offered at Pinnacle Recovery’s Utah Inpatient Rehab, refers to any long-term treatment program where the client lives onsite for the duration of their stay. Programs like their Utah Inpatient Rehab, allow for those attempting to get clean and sober to have the 24-hour care they need in order to ensure them the best possible chance at recovery.Inpatient Rehab programs are seen as more intensive than other treatment programs, like outpatient or individual therapy. They allow for a person to receive the extra care they may need in order to overcome their addiction, all while giving them a safe and secure place in which to experience early recovery.Sober Living Homes:Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who\'ve just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) is the practice of rewiring the brain, so to speak. They work with the patient to identify harmful thought patterns she/he have developed, and show the new, proactive thought patterns to put the patient back in control of his/her actions. Metacognition (thinking about the way someone thinks) is a powerful tool in addiction recovery.Equine Therapy:Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.Experiential Therapy:Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing:Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based, highly effective way to address underlying issues that may have lead to the addiction. Trauma, anxiety, and other negative emotions and memories are often repressed. EMDR is used in conjunction with other therapies to resurface those repressed emotions and memories, and work through them with a professional.Family Therapy:Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.Individual Therapy:A key component of many treatment plans, individual therapy allows them the chance to get to know the patient, and give him/her professional counselling time, one on one. Their staff of licensed, experienced professionals are here to listen and offer support through your treatment.Nutrition Therapy:Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.Trauma Therapy:Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client\'s past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
